Welcome to our very first installment of Christine’s Designer Diary! Christine was ecstatic to plan her youngest daughter’s wedding and has eloquently written about Izzy and Luke’s magical day.
“My youngest daughter Izzy was married in August. She was the most beautiful bride! Years ago, I found exquisite Tambour and Honiton lace from the late 19th century which I had saved just for this occasion. I designed her strapless gown from champagne Duchesse Satin, completely overlaying it with my treasured antique lace. The lace itself was dark ecru in color and fell in embroidered panels to the ground and formed a chapel length train. I had the bodice of the gown hand beaded with tiny pearls for just the right amount of shimmer.
Izzy’s maids wore custom dresses in soft peach chiffon, accented in antique lace to compliment the vintage inspired bride. The flower girls, in their tulle dresses, were magical as they cast petals down the aisle. It was especially endearing when the youngest carefully handed a petal to the groom. The ring bearer was a mop of blond curls and darling in his silk bow-tie, while the groomsmen suited the enchanted woodland wedding perfectly, wearing forest green.
A close friend of mine hosted the wedding on her gorgeous wooded property, with sprawling fields of tall grass and grazing cows. At the moment when the pastor announced “the bride has come”, Izzy stepped into the clearing just as the sun came out. I looked up at the huge maple tree and the leaves sparkled as they caught the light. The scene was like a painting from an old master; enchanted, ethereal, and full of love.
I cried for the beauty of it all.”
