Melanie Bataille is a truly beautiful woman, and not just on the outside! Her passion for her business and involvement with her community are remarkable examples of how today’s young women are able to succeed, both for themselves and for those around them.
Melanie’s husband David had been struggling with congestive heart failure for 10 years, when in April 2011 he passed away due to a heart attack. He was 34. Melanie was left to run his business, Cork-It Wine Making, on her own. Not an easy feat for a woman of 24 at a difficult time in her life. But she took her love of the business and reached out. From the interior aesthetics to special events, Cork-It now isn’t your usual winemaking shop. It’s young and trendy. It’s fun to be there. Melanie loves bringing in the younger crowd and introducing them to wine. She has kindly sponsored our special events many times!
One of Melanie’s community driven projects is her annual Cork-It Winemaking Calendar. In partnership with the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, Melanie puts together a beautifully tasteful, pin-up style calendar (featuring our teddy) that promotes local businesses in North Vancouver. Calendars will be available on November 15, 2012. Proceeds go the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
